As bad as I hate to, I am going to have to sell the “Pie Wagon”. I found out my youngest son (18 months) is diabetic. We found out about 2 weeks before I initially bought the truck but I had given my word so I got it anyway. The effort and time my family is spending for his well-being will prevent me from having any spare time.

The truck starts, runs and drives great. The truck is NOT all original. It has a 2–speed transfer case and 4-speed transmission. The winch is not original but works and looks good on the truck. The truck only needs a few things to be complete: the tailgate is missing and it needs blackout lights front & rear. I had the radiator rebuilt and had VPW rebuild the carb. I have also purchased a 12V conversion kit, new wheels and tires and a new wiring harness from Vintage Wiring of Maine. I am asking 7,600 for the truck and all the parts I have. I also have the (5) split ring wheels and tires. The only thing I know it needs right now is a front passenger side wheel cylinder. I am located in middle TN. So if you are close enough, stop by and we can take it for a spin or at least kick the tires. Please e-mail with any questions, I have tons of pictures. Thanks for looking. I hate to sell it but some things just have priority.

Thanks,
Curt

Hi Chris,
Sorry to hear about your son. MoparTina has a cousin who was diagnosed at age three. Find out about the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, in your area. They are working hard for 'The Cure' and are making great progress in finding a cure for this disease.

MN, thanks for the good words, it's always good to hear something positive. I really thought it wouldn't be such a big deal, man was I wrong. It seems every spare second I (and my wife) have is dedicated to finding out and learning more about diabetes. I took so much for granted before. It could always be worse, at least this is treatable. I didn't feel too sorry myself once we got to Vanderbilt, it actually made me feel lucky that it was only diabetes. Just a bump in the road, if this is the worst thing that happens to us, we will be fine.

I'll attach the first picture. Well crap, they are all too big. I have tons for anyone who is interested.....there are a couple in the military section I think.

Thanks Again for the positive advice, we are definately in the learning curve.

Curt,
my best to you and your family. Life throws us curves to see what we are made of. Your head is in the right place. There will always be other trucks out there. I have enjoyed your posts and progress on the WC. Drop by the PWA and let us know how he's doing.

Curt,
I agree with Warren. Even if you sell your truck, don't stop coming here to visit and 'Talk Shop' in the " Friendly Conversation" section.
Good Luck!

I had quite a few people interested in the truck, I am lowering the price. I still haven't had time to do anything further to the truck. I still get it out 2-3 times a week and drive it around. Still have not started the wiring or done anything other than routine maintenance. New price is 6,900.

On the other front, Evan is doing great, he started his insulin pump (2) weeks ago and is adjusting well. It still amazes me how tough little kids can be.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Thanks,
Curt

Of course I'd like to have it in my garage.........tis not to be though.
I bet it wouldn't last long on ebay.
Great news on your son.
Good luck Curt.

Warren - it's great to see him act like a two year old again. I had start to forget what a big smile and laugh was like from him. He was up to (5) shots a day and the pump seems to be helping him eat better and everything. I think he associated eating with having to get a shot, so he stopped eating, we are finally making some progress. It shows because he is much happier these days.

Not so sure about the e-bay thing, I might give it a shot in the future. I would like for someone to have it that will appreciate it, ya know? I think most of the folks here qualify...............

Thanks,
Curt

Hi Curt!
Nice to see you post and great to hear about your son. My neice just had her 14th birthday party, diagnosed at 2, she checkes her blood sugar periodically, but the pump does the rest. She's pretty much a normal teen, ....with a diet. = )
Take Care!

Hi Curt!
I cannot help with the truck issue, but I will be praying for your son in his needs in life and for your family in theirs. Good to hear that things are looking up!

Curt,

We are all glad to hear your family is doing well. Be sure and let us know if there is anything we can help with.

I have not made it into that area, but would like to get up there one day to meet you and your family. That is the greatest thing I like about these forums. It lets you meet good people.

I would love to have such a good looking truck, but I am about as strapped for extra cash as anyone can be.

Let me know when you get down to around $250.00, and I may be able to gain approval from Congress. :)

Curt -

Do you have any pix of the interior of this fine looking vehicle?

Terry, probably the best thing to do is read the thread "New WC owner" in the military section(it's probably on page two or three by now). It pretty much has a full history of the truck from when I bought it. The guys here REALLY helped me figure out what I had. It has tons of pictures and explains the trans. and transfer case set-up. Let me know if you would like to see anything else.

My brother lives just over the hill from you in San Carlos, CA.

Thanks,
Curt

Curt,

Hope all is well with your family. I see you may have parted with the Pie Wagon. I am sad to hear that for you, but glad for someone getting into our fabulous hobby.

Hope to be up that way one day. Let me know if you need anything.

It seems as though I have sold the truck. Just working out the details of shipping at this time. I have seriously lost sleep over selling this truck but things at home need all the attention I can give. One day I will have another truck and hopefully by then, we will have Evan in good shape and I can finally spend some time with them having fun.

I really appreciate all the prayers and good words from everyone here, it means a lot. To those with children, I'm sure you understand. I may not have a truck anymore but you can bet your............well, let's just say I will still be on the site and getting the magazine. I will be keeping up with everyone, thanks again for everything.

Terry, if you are ever through Cookeville, please stop by!
