I am looking for something to run around in right now that would be only a FEW hundred dollars.

I know it will not be pretty! I am not that stupid.

My buddy has a 2 wheel drive Ramchager for sale (Chevy Blazer-like truck). It has some rust holes (under 1/2") in the rear 1/4's and the interior is rough. The 318 engine and 727 trans work well. Color is dark blue.

He wants $700 but is neg.

I think the Bow-Ty(heh-heh) was the CUCV, and the Dodge was the M-880? I think Terry might be happy the M-880, Carter has had some luck, been happy with his, I think?

The M880 was the 3/4 ton Dodge pick-up truck, wasn't it? I would think that the Ramcharger had another number, M-880 1/2?

I also love, at the risk of Gordon running me off, the CUCV's.

However, the key word here is CHEAP!

M880's and CUCV's of any configurations are going for several thousand dollars. Unfortunately, I just don't have it.

That is why I am looking for a cheap truck. I found the one that the guy wants $300 for, and may be going with it, unless I find something closer to home.

I love the M890 that was on e-bay, and that truck would fit my needs, but it is over $1200. Oh well.

Only thing I've seen around my way for a "few hundred", was a M37 rolling chassis. I think you might have a hard time finding a runable mil/veh for less than about $1,500.oo or so. Just my 2c.

Ain't no such animal, in my experience. The "inexpensive" ones usually seem to require large injections of cash at frequent intervals . . . usually when said cash is in short supply.

Actually, I have found a 2WD that is only $300, and the guy says IT RAN WHEN PARKED! That is one of those deals that are almost to good to pass up!

Yeah, but when was it parked, 20 years ago? I'd be very leary of such a statement.

As Lifer said, you would more than likely spend a good deal of cash to get the truck operable. So really, is $300.oo such a good deal if you look at it in the longrun?

IMO, I'd save up a little more, and buy something that runs now, if even only intermittenly.

If it does, then I'd also say "go for it". No matter what you wind up putting into the truck, IMO you are always ahead if you have a truck that runs vs something with a stuck motor, or no motor at all.

What kind of truck did you say it was again?
