Sadly selling my 1965 Dodge M37 (known here on the forum as "Old Yeller".
Work needs have changed.
Was an army vehicle until surplused out to a small Fire Department in Stillmore, GA. The F.D. added the Holan utility body (made in Griifin, N.C. by Holan manufacturing in 1959) Sold at auction about 4 years ago to a North Carolina collector. I bought it from him a bit over two years ago. I've used it as a work truck since then. It's only seen two NE winters.
Titled and registered in New York. Title is clear. Truck needs a little work before it can pass inspection (mostly lights and horn). Engine and transmission are strong. Truck starts up quickly with a little choke. Speedo, temp gauges don't work. Gas gauge sticks. Lights were partially converted to 12 volts by the FD and I've had some issues with contacts coming loose. Could use a rewiring.
Truck is solid, but with some rust and other age related issues (like most any other 42 year old vehicle). No cracks in window glass. Tires have some age cracks, but hold air well, with no slow leaks. Paint is rough. The FD sprayed, brushed, swabbed, etc. the yellow paint on.
Comes with four extra matching wheels and NDTs (worn), 20,000 BTU aftermarket heater, horn kit, speedometer kit, and a Astron 24 volt to 12 volt converter.
Truck is available to inspect and drive.
This is a great truck that can be a excellent work truck with a little work, or a great collector vehicle if you want to do a frame off.
Truck will be up on Ebay shortly (approximately 3PM EST 10/21/2007).
Call Michael at (518) 392-9993, respond to me here, or email me.
Austerlitz is right over the NY border about four miles from the NYS Thruway/Mass Pike.

$1500, delivered to SoCal??? = )
I've been toying with the idea of cutting up my Grand Wagoneer and making a utility truck out of it. The local class 5 trails (on a 1 to 5 trail rating) are nothing but carnage on weekends and there is no trailside service rig to collect the Darwin Award runner ups...(runner-ups are survivors).
I thought that might be a fun weekend business....
That truck has tons of potential, good luck with it!
PS, if you list it on ebay, clean up the oil and brake fluid (or whatever liquid that is spilled in the tool boxes) and tape up those wires out of view and retake those three photos...

Thanks Norm. It's actually water. I was taking pictures in between rain showers. I didn't even notice the wires. I'll retake those photos. I just deleted the others.

Very nice listing. well laid out and very descriptive, one of the best I've seen, good luck!
(10 bids is pretty good interest)

Probably did ;), Norm. Anybody that compares themselves to me when it comes to getting up early will probably win. :)
Thanks for the compliments on the listing. After over 4200 listings you would hope I could write a half-way decent one.
I re-listed the truck. Had almost 60 watchers and 10 bids, but didn't get close to what I'm asking.

So far I've turned down straight trades for a Chinese 4x4 tractor, a Suburban and a 1986 CJ-7. Would seriously consider a Toyota Xtra cab P/U.

You might have missed the boat on that 86 CJ, that was a good year....= )

I thought about it Norm, but there were some rust issues and air cleaner issues and latch issues and .... you get the picture. I'm in a period of little to no vehicle maintainance needed. I'm in the middle of expanding my shop, building several porch roofs and come first thing next Spring I have to re-do our barn. All that while trying to make a living. My darn kids keep eating and getting bigger, and as they get bigger they eat more, costs more money to feed them. Never ending cycle ;)

Yeah,...you don't really need another project...I often forget that we are blessed with rust free vehicles and salt free roads out here. You can get a pretty nice rig out here for $5,000 or less....
As for the children, it's a lost cause, I sprayed growth retardant on mine...it didn't work....they got big...and moved away....I do miss them ....except at dinner time....= )

No worries about them moving. Even the teenager wants to stay here. Guess I shouldn't be such a good cook. Unless one of them joins the military I'm pretty sure I'll be feeding them for some time. At least it's not too hard to get them to help out around the house. ;)

That should work out OK then, after 18 they should start paying rent unless they are students. So you'll either have supplemental income or smart kids...= )

I should wait until they're 18? ... should I give back the money they've already paid me, or just hold it in escrow? ;)

I'm a southern boy living in rural NY.
I need a vehicle that I can also haul my 4 kids around in. I can't afford to own an extra vehicle right now.

Chevy, Ford and Dodge all offer 4 doors on their trucks (before toyota ever did). The Cummins Dodge gets way better mileage than the toyota. The Hemi is comparable. Longevity? Guaranteed for 350k miles on the oil burner.

Any Ford, Chevy or Dodge extra cab I could buy for $3,000 is going to be trashed. If you want to buy me a new truck, feel free to give me advice on what I should buy. If not, I'll do what I do with any unwarranted advice I get from strangers....

Sounds like it's in for a complete restoration. New owner lives in Iceland, he's bought and restored a few.
