  • Oil pressure line location

Currently my line is behind oil fill tube. Wondering if I can move the location to the port closest to the firewall (behind the starter)? I would like to move it purely for cosmetics; is there anything I should be concerned with by moving it behind the starter? I do notice it will be a pain getting to, but how often does one need to mess with that line? Thanks.

If your referring to the lines that go to the filter I would leave them alone.
One, the filter return, has to dump back into the engine at this location.
The other, the filter feed, is ported ahead of the relief valve.
I think I would leave them be.

Just my opinion and moving them might be ok, but why chance a ruined engine?

No, not the filter ports. There's a port in front and behind those. I'll post a pic when I get home to clarify things.

Arrow on left is old, or original, oil pressure line (to gauge) and I want to move it to the right arrow to clean things up. Also notice the position of the rotor. Is that the correct starting point for TDC? Or is it correct in the 2nd picture (This is where I currently have it)? Motor hasn't been started after full rebuild. Is there anything you notice in the 3 pictures that I may want to be aware of, or look at closer? Obviously not complete, but getting there.

That front oil port is where the sending unit is on military m37 engines.
Most of the civilian engines used the rear port from what I have seen.
            Either one will work.

You are one or two teeth off on your oil pump gear.
The rotor should point to 7:00 for #1 when installed correctly.

You can change it or move the wires to match.

Nice Job on your engine BTW!
Looks like your building a Very Nice PW!!

Thank you Tom. I got confused when I read a post about static timing. Thought the rotor pointed at #1 cylinder. Went back and read the post again and it does say rotor points at 7 'clock. I misread: "verify rotor is pointing at the cylinder #1 plug tower on the distributor cap".
