Carb Hickup at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle

You may also want to check your step up jet circuit- see my post "Another Squaretop Hesitation Problem" on the 1-ton forum, and also look for any air leaks in the carb/manifold gasket areas. I find that turning in the idle screw till the idle gets rough, then running an unlit propane torch along the gasket areas finds an air leak pretty quick- idle picks right up.

Carb Hickup at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle
I rebuilt my carb before last winter. Basically got a rebuild kit, stripped it down, cleaned it and put it back together. I set up the idle mixture adjustment screw to what I think is about right, maybe 1 1/2 turns out or so, has a decent idle. But my problem is that since I've rebuilt the carb I've always had a problem with the throttle at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle.
Basically if I hit the throttle at a normal to quick speed it has a very noticeable hickup. When the motor is cold is most likely will stall unless I ease into the throttle and get past that point.
So what circuit did I screw up when I cleaned it? Any thoughts? I'm confident my idle mixture circuit works and is not clogged because I can turn the screw in and the engine will eventually die.Tags: None
