running WC-51 with the canvas cab top only

Now that summer is coming up I would like to run my WC with only the cab top on. Does anyone have a good method to secure the four connecting straps? I've found some surplus leather straps that looked promising but most are 3/4 wide and not a full inch. If I can find some straps I was thinking about running the end straps down to the lazy backs and the center straps to either the bed divider or the middle top bow.
