    hello al i was looking at the door check straps for my 1953 flatfender today and noticed that one will allow one door to open farther than the other. is this one just bent or are they supposed to be this way?

    The door that opens farther (drivers, I assume) is likely missing the rubber bump-stop on the end of the arm, You will need to remove the kick panel to confirm/repair the situation.

      i guess i was a bit vauge, i have removed the check straps and one is bent more than the other allowing one door to open more, i have removed a set from a 1 1/2 ton dodge grain truck and they match my set exactly, one bent more than the other. is this how they are supposed to be or did the wind just grab both of these doors at one time in their long life?

        on mine the strap on the drivers side has cut into the door frame allowing the drivers side to open more, which is good because I'm bigger than most of my passengers!
