  • dual rear wheels question

I am in the process of putting together a 61 FFPW. I am not the strict resto type guy, and really don't have the funds to go all in anyway. I have a vision for my truck. Drivetrain dependable, interior decent, and some custom touches. It won't be a rat, but will show a lot of character and patina in the finish. I also very much want dual rear wheels.

I have a number of the Budd wheels, and am planning on cutting the centers from some and making modern 17" wheels to run modern radials.
My main question is, what offsets do I make the wheels to run a dual setup? I missed a set on here a while back, which I was going to purchase and convert, but figured after I missed them that I have more than enough to make my own anyway.

I figure I just need the offset measurements, and then I can proceed. I have never seen dual rear wheels on a FFPW, but think it will look quite good. I am going to run a standard bed, and widen the fenders as much as I need. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Dual wheels are a stock option for a Power Wagon in the 7:50 and 900x 16" rims.

I had two sets on my '52, one set on the rear and the other set on the front.

I would assume you would just need enough offset to clear the other tire by 2-3 inches and then check that it will clear the frame, radial will need more offset because they bulge more. The loaded tire dimension my be available online or at the tire store or measure a mounted tire you like

There were two dual Budd wheels having our 5 x 6 7/8" bolt pattern. One was Budd #44380 that was a 16" x 5.5" having 4 3/4" offset (9 1/2" dual spacing) with a "design" tire size of 7.00 x 16 and a "max size" of 7.50 x 16. The other, and probably of more interest to you, was Budd #66730 that was 16" x 6.5" having 5 7/8" offset (11 3/4" dual spacing) with a "design" tire width of 8.25" and "max size" of 9.00".
