    OK fellas....I'm restoring my 53 flatfender.....By no means will it be a showtruck...But I do want to do the best job I can....I will be doing all the mechanical work as well as body work and paint........Heres the deal...I blasted the frame and painted it with chassis saver paint... The frame was pretty pitted.....I layed on 3 coats of paint , sanding between each coat...What is everyones' opionion on still seeing some pitting in the frame after its painted? I think it looks good, but I want to know the general concensus....Would YOU not stop until it was smooth as silk???? OR since its a truck, do the pits give it character??????? I dont know anymore , and my wife says it looks fine....But its not her truck.....Let me know , and be honest, I've got tough skin.........I'll try to post pics tomorrow .Steve

    Well as you say it's not going to be a show truck so you have to ask yourself is it good enough for you now? With 3 coats of Chassis Saver paint on already unless you blast the pits you won't get anything to stick to fill the pits. That should have been done after a coat of self etching primer. If you are going for a driver then call it good and get on with the rest of the truck. Once you start down the trailer queen route it's hard to take them out for a real drive for fear of messing up your pretty truck. If this is your first truck go for the best way to preserve it and make it presentable. You can make the next one a show truck. Oh and if you didn't figure it out already, PW's are like Lay's potato chips, you can't have just one. haha. Looking forward your pictures. If you haven't started one yet keep a journal of all your work with pictures. That way you can write a story for the PWA so everyone can share your experience.

      Thanks...I was already warned about the "Lays" deal.....My shop foreman has 4 flat fenders , an m37, a jeep with a perkins diesel , and a 44 gm beer delivery truck-all complete.......AND a flatfender ambulance and 4 other flatfenders awaiting attention.........The owner of my company has 1 flatfender and about 6 others ranging in size from power giants to 200's....Now for me.....You kind of hit the nail on the head......I want to drive it without being scared of getting it dirty.....But I do want it to look good........
