I had the carb rebuilt on my 50 power wagon. I now have a problem with fuel pouring out of the brass tube in the air horn and flowing down the carb. Fuel pressure is 5 lbs. Truck started and idled fine before rebuild. Only problem I had was that the truck would not rev all the way up unless choke was pulled out half way. Any ideas? Carb has been sent back three times already.

KLEMM,
Fuel pouring out of the vent sounds like the float is hanging up, not adjusted correctly or the needle valve (controlled by the float) is not seating. First try gently tapping the sides of the carburetor with the plastic handle of a screw driver. This usually frees a stuck float.
Good luck,
Joe

what kind of fuel filter do you have ? if that carb is the original one it might of
been sitting for a long time and the gas turned to dust and that will eat away the aluminum ( corrosion ) on the inside , you might be better off getting a new one not a newly rebuilt one !

The problem was the gasoline intake needle. It was 1/16 shorter than the original. This caused the float to stay in the low fuel position and the pump to continusly pump fuel in to the carb. The float did not rise high enough to seat the needle. I will now have to change the oil and filter. The oil pan is full of fuel.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Got Skunked - All we had were calf tags. Actually a cow and calf were on the other side of the cut about 1.6 km away but another gang got them. If we would have turned left at the fork instead of right and heading to the far end of the cut we would have had them. Oh well, there's always next year. Hopefully the whole gang will be there next year so we can be guaranteed a bull or cow tag. How was the rally in West VA.
