All of the radios I have seen in early WDX-WM300 Power Wagon, that appeared to be dealer installed, have been of the type that mount behind the dash or to the firewall. From this integral radio/speaker combination, cables travel to remote control knobs mounted either to a bracket at the underside of the dash or clamped to the steering column.

So in response to Jonas' picture, shown, of a friends truck, I spent quite a bit of time coresponding with a company that has the Mopar 802 radio shown on their webpage as one of the radios they can convert.

I purchased a radio for 40 bucks that doesnt work, and will send it to this company for them to gut the radio and replace it with all modern electronics, and make it am/fm, with aux inputs for ipod, iphone and satelitte radio. Main purpose for this being so I can listen to Frank Sinatra, 40s and 50s music and old classic country music.

Checked out the cab yesterday at the body shop and its being rolled to paint today. Should have the cab back and be able to install the eniter front clip, wire harness and be able to get it started and maybe road worthy in a week or two.

Alternatives

There are a couple interesting alternatives to the "old" radio approach - maybe a new old radio??

I'm sure there's a single manufacturer of these (yes, probably in China) that lots of these guys rep, but I havn't found them yet.

If you check on ebay there are a number of pics for Dodge truck radios - Mopar/Bendix, there's also Motorola, and many others of the period that as mentioned the dealers installed.
