  • Stromberg BXV Carb. help

Guys, on my second truck, I have a Stromberg BXV-3 Carburetor. My problem is that the air/fuel mixture is entirely too rich, and turning the springed screw on the side doesn't help much. I feel the problem lies in the fact that the lower butterfly barely opens. The amount it opens is entirely dis-proportional to the amount of gas going in.

Eg.: If I have the engine running idle, and even tried to push the butterfly open all the way, the accelerator pump would put so much gas into the engine, that the engine would over-rev and blow up. I have looked at the accelerator pump linkage, and it is set to pump the least amount of gas possible.

Any suggestions? Do I need to adjust the float, etc?
