My grandson turned 1 year old last Saturday. Yesterday I bought him a 1950 FFPW project truck so his dad, him and I can do a restore project and hopefully have it done when he can drive. It was a 12 hour haul/trailering job, pulling it out of a field in very rural Alaska where it has sat for 40 years.

Grandson's First Birthday Present
It would be great to know the history of this old truck. The "optional" headlight brackets seem to be an indicator of a very tough work life. The original winch and tripod mount is in the bed. Not sure if it was used as a post hole driller or crane, or...There is a faded yellow diamond on the passenger side door that indicates it was used in a business.
The area it came out of was where the US tried to establish a farming community back in the 1940s and 1950s in AK before we became a state. It was not a very successful project for the homesteaders that tried it, but there are some farms that still survive. Farming and ranching is tough when it is -30 or lower for weeks at a time. That's why I would like to install a head bolt heater if possible.
I would think that the truck came up the Alcan Highway in the early 50s to support the homesteader efforts.
