I talked to a mechanic whom I trust and he said there is no place to put a modern engine block heater in the 251. He also said he was not about to drill a hole in it to mount one at the bottom; I agreed we didn't want to do that.
Your mechanic is mistaken. I have installed welch plug type heaters in both the 230 and the 251. I have one in GUS and use it throughout our Wyoming winters. Cold weather starts are arguably easier that summer starts after and evening plugged in...
