I haven't posted on this for some time, due to lack of noticeable progress (understood up front that this would be the case, so no problem). Here are pictures of the newest progress. JH
I really like the Omaha Orange color. I think it looks great on FFPW's. Can't wait to see the final results when you get it all together.
Great work.
Jeff
Omaha Orange is "ORANGE", no yellow look to it. Think "state highway dept." truck, or "county highway dept." truck colors. It is about as orange as you can get. I worked for a large construction materials company at one time. Omaha Orange was the color of the fleet trucks, including the pickups we got to drive, as managers. We stood out like a sore thumb. You could see our trucks coming from a mile away.

The picture is pretty faithful. It's very orange. With the black fenders and running boards and flatbed, it's going to be quite a contrast. No losing it in a snow storm.
Yeah it kind of looks like a cross between yellow and orange to me. I asked because the lighting can make a big difference. What I have in mind is something like this truck.
I prefer that color over a light yellow. Not sure if that is Omaha Orange or not.
I'd say it is. Remember that paint is 50 years old, and painted in a gloss enamel. Mine is a base coat with a clear gloss finish coat, so the gloss will pick up the light in the building more.
Love that color and beautiful work! Is there a year spread that was an original color? Just curious if it would be more "correct" for a certain year...
If I understand, the correct years were 1960-1967 for factory availability. This is according to the color info on the home page of www.dodgepowerwagon.com

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?
Looks great! I think this is the color I want to go with. Do you have any pictures of the cab when you first started? Mine is pretty rough, bullet holes and all.
This is what the truck looked like when I bought it. The cab looked better than it was. It had been abused badly, then several attempts to fill and patch the dents.
