  • what red is the right red?

Id like to get close to original on the engine, tranny, and manifolds. What brand and color is close enough to the original match? The chrysler red I've found doesn't seem right. Thanks.

I assume you are asking about a 251 engine? The 230 was silver. Sorry, can not help on the shade of red.

      251 Engine

I just noticed the post with respect to the color of the 251 engine being red. Mine (1961 FFPW) is gold. It was manufactured in June or July of 1960 as per the block. It's obviously the right timing for a 1961 model. It appears to be the original installation in my truck. Does anybody have any insight into this? Just curious.....Keith.

        engine colors

I'm the 2nd owner titled after forestry service so I'm pretty sure my 251 is original color. I never saw any documentation on gold engines, silver yes, gold no. Maybe owned or built for a sheik??
