  • Grill Shell to Frame Mounting

OK, I don't believe there was/are any rubber (or other materials) used as isolators between the radiator support and the frame. If I remember correctly the number of washers are based on what is needed to align the shell to the hood/cowl.

As anyone used, or places any isolators between the support and frame?

Oh this is in reference to putting the 1946 back together.

    Thanks,
    Will

I know my '49 does not have any rubber isolators between the radiator and the frame. Just metal washers. Not sure what the manuals say, if anything.

The parts book shows two washers and a nut.

Thanks Gordon, I assume one washer on top of the frame bracket and one below.

That is not how it is pictured in the manual. What does common sense tell you? Not being smart here. It is hard to know if the parts illustrator made an assumption of some sort we can't imagine.

            Gordon,

Based on the design I would expect one between the bracket and frame mount to account for the radiator support weld bulge, and the other to prevent the nut from digging into the frame mount large holes, but that's my common sense, and it's not always that common in my case.

Very good. It has been quite a while since I disassembled one.
