bell housing fasteners??

Can anyone tell me how the lower bolts on the motor to bell housing are secured? Regular nuts hit the flywheel. Were these shallow nuts? Can't remember how/what came off, and not finding any thing that works in the parts box for this section.

Almost done except for this snag.

Which engine you talking about?

On the 230ci engine, the four lower bell housing bolts (two on each side) come into the bell housing from the engine side. The holes in the bell housing are threaded to receive the bolts. No nuts.
