I finally got around to replacing a new oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket on my truck. I thought about doing it with the manifolds on, but I wanted to pull the manifold to fix the summer winter flapper thing that rusts in place after one season.
When I looked at the 1/4" NPT tapped hole on the front of the intake manifold, it was completely blocked with carbon! And this engine seems to run fine except for the oil spill it creates every time I park it.
So, I'm happy to report that it looks like I don't need to install new front and rear seals on the engine, with the new gaskets and this port unplugged it does not look like it drips any more!!!
Something goes better than expected for once!!
Wife and I (and the dog!) went to Annapolis Sunday to watch people and enjoy some cold beverages. Truck temp ran 185 max, and really no oil leaks!
To top that off, Doc Langford stopped by Saturday with his son. Great folks who know a lot about the PW.
