Recently got back to work on my PW after a couple years off. Anyway, workin' on the bed and I'm curious if anyone has used rubber pads between the cross members and frame at the 6 bolting points on their bed? I was told that at least the two floating cross members need pads. When I pulled my bed off, there were no pads under any of the cross members. Anyway, as far as the 6 bolting points go, was it metal on metal from the factory, or was there some sort of pad involved? Thanks

Yes, there was a pad at each of the mounting points. Those that did not have a bolt passing through had a spring clip on the pad that passed up through the hole in the bed's crossmember to hold them in place (early bed) or an extrusion of the rubber (later bed). I have only a first series bed and it is not here right now to get any photos. This is the best image I have stored on my computer.Originally posted by JReed View PostRecently got back to work on my PW after a couple years off. Also see Phil's t137 site for Todd Somer's images of the rubber spacer pads used on the 2nd and 3rd series beds:
