  • New FFPW owner! (almost)

    First post, How are ya....Ive always liked these trucks and came across one by accident a few days ago. I only had a few minutes to look at it and it was surrounded by brush and trees. It looked very solid minus the floors are long gone, and the bottom of the doors are rusted pretty good.

    Complete except tailgate and drivers running board. Has pickup bed (wood intact), pto winch, all glass intact although the pass windshield is cracked. Black paint, red interior. Been sitting in the woods for a long time.

    I'm going back to check it out more closely and ill take pics for you guys, ive been doing tons of research so now I can go back and try to figure out what year it is etc....Asking price is $1500. From what i've seen that seems to be a fair price, anything specific i should look for?

    This will be my first old Dodge, Ive always had Willys trucks before this, and I was actually looking at Willys trucks when I found this tucked away. These make the Willys look like a toy haha! Thanks.

    Without seeing and learning more to verify, it seems it should be worth that much to you even as a parts truck. And, it may be a great start for you as a truck. Does it have a title available?

        That is an obstacle that can be overcome, it is just less convenient.

          Well, $1,500 doesn't sound too bad. After all, you can't be more than $1,500 off the right price. The real problem is how much time, money and effort will you have to spend to get the truck in usable condition.

          If the bolt-in floor panels are missing or rusty, that's not too much of a problem. But, if by the "floors are long gone", you mean the fixed panels are rusted out, you have a big problem. Along with the doors being rusted out, this pretty much make this a parts truck. There will be other problem rust areas too. And rust-through is expensive to fix.

          Anyway, no way anybody can give you any useful advice without seeing pictures and we all enjoy seeing FFPW photos.

            no title is needed in ct for classic cars. Im really suprised you guys are saying its a parts truck just because it has a little rust, do you really expect to find one in perfect shape? Its mostly complete, and im a welder by trade, plus the fun part is the rebuild. Ive actually never seen another one in my area, so having the only one for a wide radius would be pretty cool, i like having stuff no one else has. my plan eventualy would be to swap in a 12v cummins engine and newer axles, although i do have a sweet spot for flatheads. im not worried about the missing running board since i dont like em anyway. basicly i want to keep it as original as possible with a few modern upgrades, and i actually like the bumps and bruises that make it a vintage truck, so i dont plan to do a full resto, just make it solid and reliable while retaining the character. anyway, all this is pointless without pics, so ill head back this week and keep you guys updated.
