Picked up a Cab and whole bunch of Parts

Hi guys,
I picked up a cab, fenders, winch with plow frame and a bunch of other parts the other day in my ongoing quest to find a usable cab. While this cab may be more beat up than I'm looking for, it has some interesting stuff.

Does anyone know what year it is? The data plate is missing. Also, what about those "guards" along the top of the cab. There are three on there, but I found another one in the cab. They are perfectly contoured to the top of the cab and don't look like a DIY job. Any ideas?

Are the running boards a stock item?

Cab

From the gauge cluster, I would place it from mid 1951 to late 1954. Mid 1951 they went to the center gauges, with chrome plating. Late 1954/55 color was changed to white. Amp gauge should read from -50 to +50. The top straps look to me to be some sort of cab protection - they look custom but not factory, to me. The wire mesh welded to the back window reflects this as well.
The running boards look modified to allow someone to step up easier. I have not seen this from the factory, but I am young in this hobby. Matt

The roof guards are definitely homemade.

I like the running boards. I'd never cut up good running boards, but it looks like somebody did a fairly nice job. If they are sound, I'd consider using them if you are not an off roader.

The roof guards make me wonder if it was once a forest service truck or brush fire truck.
