Combat Rims

I have a full, five, set of combat rims. It was my first plan to save the combat rims for my second project, a quad cab PW with diesel, power brakes, etc.

I am now reconsidering cuz I dont know in my present situation if I would ever get to do another truck, especially with the work a quad cab needs.

So I am now considering getting the combat rims blasted and powder coated.

My question is, when these rims were used, were the retainer rings painted a different color than the rim, or was the whole thing all one color? And with the color of my truck, what would look good in your opinions..

If I end up doing this, I will eventually be in need of three more combat rims for my M101 trailer.

Nick. I would suggest black with silver rings. In my opinion they would look best on any vehicle of any color.
Unless you have a powder coater in mind, I have sent mine through Les Schwab tire store. They have a blaster and a powder coater in Oregon at their home base. I've had 4 sets of rims done and have had no problems. JH

I was thinking black and silver as thats what the rims on it now are, and I wanted to keep the chassis parts black, so that dictates the rims as black. Just didnt know what it would look like with as wide a ring as the combats are being silver. How much was the powder coating thru Les Schwab? We are just getting them around here, and none in my immediate area. I have used two different powder coaters for blasting, so I have ideas, just wondering what Les would charge.

Just a thought, if you put those wheels on a disel repower capable of highway speeds, is it possible to balance those wheels? might get a whopper of a vibration, maybe possible to make the outer bolt on ring out of aluminum which might help, just speculating.

I have, in my picture archives, a picture of an M37. Tan in color, with combat rims on it. I think it had a diesel in it, not sure. But the ring was painted fluorescent orange. Looked cool with the black tire and tan truck. Just thinkin I thought it had a diesel so maybe they is a way to do it????

When I had Les Schwab do mine it ran between $30 and $70. The lower price was a one piece rim made by Stockton Wheel for my W300. The higher price was for the 20" two piece rims for the W500. They were two separate halves, bolted together with 36 3/8" bolts in a circle with a huge rubber o ring so the tires could be mounted tubeless.
Best to talk to one of the managers to see about what they would charge you.
