  • Need Help! Wheel ID?

    Hi Guys!

Dose anyone know what size wheel this is? Looks to be a 20" off a 2 1/2 ton, but not sure. I thought all of those trucks came with 6 bolt patterns. Let me know what you think. Also, what truck would it have came off of?

That's a PW I've known of for quite a while. And it's probably one of the nicest I know of. First time I saw it, it was for sale on eBay listed by a NJ dealer. Next time I saw it it was owned by a guy in CA who is a friend of one of my Marmon-Herrington friends. Below is a close up of one of the wheels/tires from the eBay listing. I think they are custom made wheels.

You're right that they are 20", and appear to have the stock 5 lug x 6 7/8" bolt pattern. Thus it would have stock axles. I've got a library of old wheel literature and have found no record of any that are 20" with this bolt pattern, aside from early '30s era Ford/Dodge Bros that were much much too narrow to handle those Michelins. A clue to them being custom wheels is the shape of the hand holes. They are more oval than the original old type wheels, which suggests the custom company took new wheels and welded a new custom made bolt pattern plate to the face then dressed up the weld. I doubt they took the original centers from PW donor wheels since they'd be too small a diameter to fit snuggly into the 20" rim. The company that I've seen do this is Stockton Wheel. Another that I think could do it is American Wheel Specialist in Pasco, WA. Stu
