    Mark,
From my limited knowledge it would be either a MoPar model 36
Or deluxe model MoPar Model 61
    I'm sure both were used.

    Look here
    Model 36

Or Here for the Model 61

Thanks Tom. I didnt know about the surge tank as well. I imagine that is even harder to find than the heater...

A useable tank can be hard to find but not impossible.
As far as heaters go you can use whatever you want. it's your truck.
There were also a lot of "aftermarket" heaters used back in the day.
I use a model 75 in my WDX be because it's what I had in a parts truck and was changing over to 12Volts anyway.

My plan is to enter the truck in the AACA at a national level so everything has to be orig. or at least to the year model. I doubt the judges will know the difference but someone might.

For your application the Mopar model 36 is the correct heater, it is listed in the early parts manual.

I wish I could as I have owned two of those Deluxe Airflow heaters. They are similar in outward appearance to the MoPar Deluxe model 36 heater, but none of the parts are the same. Even the core will not interchange with a Deluxe model 36. They do not resemble any of the Model 61 and newer heaters either.

My best guess is that "Deluxe Airflow" was the name of the company who made them and that they were not affiliated with Chrysler or MoPar and were probably an aftermarket heater that was kind of generic and designed to fit many makes and models of vehicles.
