Does anyone have a napa or car quest part number for the correct oil filter? I thought it was supposed to be a ball of yarn or at least look like one but napa said they superseded that to a cartridge? Neither of the ones napa had would fit my housing. Unless I'm supposed to remove the bell from the inside of the filter housing? Really need to figure this out she needs an oil change!!! Hahaha

I think the right answer is that the correct oil filter element in no longer available. Some say the Baldwin JC-405 is a good replacement.
Check out this web page for more info: http://www.texaspowerwagon.com/oil_filter_debate.htm
There have been many discussions about the oil filter issue.

After much searching I bought a WIX sock filter for the naked dodge chassis that I have standing. According to the local autopartsdealer it was a perfect fit. The first filter which was a can type filter I bought from them was also a perfect fit.
Anyways, In real life the filter was alot bigger than the old one and it was impossible to put the lid on when the filter was in the canister. I had resort to cutting an opening in the sock, removing extra filling and then sew it together again.

The Baldwin mentioned does fit well. I bought a case of them so I would be O.K.
Based on comments on Joe's Forum, I think that once Wix sells off the inventory of the oversize filters they "might" go back to the original size. But that could be wishful thinking.
I think Todd Wilson was the one that did the work in informing the engineers at the manufacturer that the specs weren't followed with the latest versions of this sock filter.

From what I've seen recently, getting the correct sock element is going to be increasingly difficult as manufacturers send low-profit items offshore or discontinue them altogether. I bit the bullet awhile ago and converted to a spin-on bypass Baldwin filter, oil changes are MUCH cleaner and easier. Writeup at http://www.powerwagonadvertiser.com/...=bypass+filter
Pay attention to page 9 in the writeup before you bend up connecting lines, as I initally had the wrong idea about "IN" and "OUT"....
