Pretty sure it started happening when the forum software changed. Still wish this forum was in tapatalk, but that's a separate subject. =)

Here's where I think the rear cross sill will have to be for the fenders to line up with the wheels, about 2" forward of the rear bumpers. The tailgate won't be able to drop all the way down in this location, which is handy to be able to do. I'll need to see how the fenders look in relation to the wheels before I can make a final decision. I just have to wait for fenders to show up, and I hate waiting.....

The fabrication of the new bed for the 6x6 has begun. I picked up 2 complete civilian short beds last month, and I've started cutting and swapping parts between the two. One of the beds is in much better shape, so I'm using that for the majority of the parts. The other bed will donate misc parts that are needed for the stretching process.

I picked up a sweet little spot weld cutter from Harbor Freight, and I have to say it works very well once I got the hang of it. It only comes with one cutter, but after cutting 40+ welds with it today it is still quite sharp. Not bad for a $5.00 purchase, and saved me about $300 in new parts.

Below is one of the front stake pockets that I had to cut the welds off of. The pocket has to be moved back about 8" to make room for the cab. As you can see there won't be much room between the front of the fender and the front of the bed.

I found a shop that could make the extension pieces for the bed. The guy did an incredible job matching the contour of the bed side. It will need a little massaging into place, but it's going to work great. Once it's welded up I will graft the top section from the other bed.

Next on the list is to buy a set of rear fenders. I have to cut them in half and mount them to the bed side halves to figure out exactly where the sides will sit between the cab and the rear bumpers.
