  • Military brake drums

I was changing wheels on my 1968 M101 A1 and noticed the brake drums on the trailer look the same as my 1960 wm300 I was wondering if the brake drums were interchangeable ? The M101 trailer has 2 hand brakes used when you park the trailer The backing plates look a little different the drums would have very little wear What do you think???

    Brake Drums

I believe that Power Wagon, M-37 and M-101 brake drums are interchangeable.

So I would not Have to worry about the hardness of the the face of the drum where the brake linings press against them ? Since the trailer has 2 hand brakes ? That would be my only concern

        Trailer Brakes

M-101 brakes are simply a hand operated parking brake. The shoes are the same as used on the M-37 and PW's. Only thing different about the trailer brakes is they don't have a wheel cylinder but instead use a cam mechanism to engage the shoes.
Trailer drums usually have very little wear, so you should have no problem putting them on your PW.
