Welded on shock mounts?

Hello all-

I am wondering if anyone knows if the FFPWs came with the pumpkin side rear shock mount welded to the axle itself?

I was taking them off tonight and after wacking on it I realized it was welded all the way around. Is this supposed to be this way?

I took a set off my 46 , they were not welded.

Rear shocks

There is a set on Ebay right now, no welding. When I did my frame, mine were also like this.

I saw those. I was actually taking mine off to sell as a set, for less than his set to boot.

But mine do not look the same.

The picture above looks like most sets I have seen out there. I have an early truck in the shop. I will check it out tomorrow. Also my 46 WDX has the rear shocks and am fairly sure they are not welded on.

As rear shocks were an option, there should never be a factory welded axle mount. The only mount welded should be on the right side if the front axle...
