  • Torque Specs on Rear U-Bolts?

I didn't see this in my manual, does anyone have the number?

I asked the same question years ago @ bailey's in Montpelier

I was told with a smile that if I break them he would give me a new set for free... So I put them on tight as.

Someone else may have a more specific answer.

Typical 5/16 fine thread bolt torque is what I would use.
      Somewhere around 20 Ft.Lbs.
will get you close, then bend the tab over and lock it.

This is for the universal joint?

I misunderstood and was speaking of the leaf spring bolts, Which are probably not even called U-bolts. My mistake!

          Ok
I should have read your post a little better myself.
Anyway Spring "U" bolt torque is 130-140 Ft Lbs.

I will re-set mine this w/end, as I used a breaker bar and I am sure they are not correct.

            Thank You Tom.
