A salute to Gordon Maney

I never got to meet Gordon but I did buy one of his power wagons from his estate. It's been 3 years already. Time flies in some respects. Anyway, the following is what I have done with his power wagon. It was not running when I got it and I had several boxes of misc. parts that had been removed over the years but it is back together now and tonight I took it out for its maiden voyage around the block. So here it goes-

I changed the color after much deliberation and to keep my wife happy. I am not a purist. I like keeping things original but I am also open to some mechanical updates when the budget allows. I did upgrade to power disc brakes all around. Thanks to Charles Talbert for those. Most everything I did myself. I stripped it down to a bare frame and started from scratch. Here is where I am at now-

I did. I will post more pics of the inside and engine when I take them. I rebuilt the motor. Had to have it bored .040 over to clean it up. I also bought a new carb and HEI ignition from Langdon's and I made the move to 12v. I went thru both axles and transmission while I had it torn apart too. I had it just about completely torn apart as you can get.

What a beautiful machine! I too never got to meet Gordon, but from the conversations we had and the guidance he gave when we first spoke (I was only 21 at the time) I'm sure he would be absolutely pleased with the truck. Its life has been extended and its in the hands of someone who can care for it well! Great work! Beautiful machine!
