1952 with Skirted Fenders?

wonder if anyone might help me out with this ‘52 I just picked up? I can not find any other truck with the skirted fenders like this. Any knowledge to share on these?

This is a ‘52 Navy truck. Brass plate says Telephone Utility Vehicle.

This is amazing, I have seen 2 other trucks before with those fenders on the front of it. 1 of which was a school bus.
There was a coachbuilder so to speak that did this fender conversion right out of the factory. I will poke around and see what additional information I can find.

That would be extremely interesting if you could track down who did these, why... just the history. First person I’ve talked to that had even seen or heard of these. The brush fire trucks had some flat silver skirts they bolted on, but these are too well done.

I can’t get larger tires under it with these fenders unless I slide a lift kit under it. Arghhh...

I havent came up with alot of details on those fenders but someone had to have a purpose behind them.
i have been looking around for more information on these since I have seen this post.
I will continue to research this for you.
