  • Power Wagon Bed Delemma

I have a 1963 FFPW I am in the process of restoring. The bed that came on it was in really bad shape and had a diamond plate welded to the crossmembers. While storing the bedsides on my lot someone else needed them more than I. I only have the tailgate and diamondplate left.

I was able to remove the crossmembers which happen to be salvageable; however, I have the front and rear “C”channels and 3 “U” channels. Can I rebuild the bed with these crossmembers without the 2nd “C” channel crossmember?

Then I’m going to have to find and purchase the front sides and fenders.

My other delemma is I have a perfect 1948 FFPW that has a 3rd series bed with new wood. I was thinking of taking this bed and putting it on the ‘63 and purchasing the 1st or 2nd series bed for the ‘48. Since these parts are expensive no matter where you get them I was thinking of just getting the parts for another 3rd series bed and save the money on a tailgate since I have one.

Are the crossmembers the same on all series beds the the exception of the rear valance.
