  • Drive shaft angle and overdrive

I could use some advice on my Overdrive installation. I’m installing a Laycock OD (Denman set up) and am a bit confused on angles/phasing that I should use. I have not put my rear axle on the ground yet but attached are the angles I measured of the front and rear diffs as well as the transfer case. Also, is a drawing from another site that explains proper angles for the U joints and a coupe of pics of my installation so far. I don’t see how the rules can be maintained. Seeking advice as to the angle I should have on my OD so I can make the supports.

Dennan%20over%20mount%20004.jpgThe most important thing is to keep the OD straight inline, up/down, side to side with the T-Case output.
This keeps the U joint straight and no unnecessary loads on it.
Then the rear shaft is going to be what it is.

I have many miles on mine in 16 years of service with No problems.

      Don't over Think it.

Perfect. Thank you.... and thanks for the picture. That helps with the bracket. How is your front bracket ? Is the OD hanging?

The front is hanging using the same rubber mount as the rear, only inverted.
I believe they are GM Automatic Trans. mounts, but can't remember exact year/model.
