  • winch sealants

Hey guys I have all my parts and everything is powder coated and cleaned meaning I am close to assembling the winch. In the past working on other trucks winches ie. M37 and a Deuce after I get the winches rebuild and reassembled using the gaskets/shims in the rebuild kits I seem to always have niggling little weeps of oil coming out primarily in the gearcase area its like those shims/gaskets that you use to set your preload on the bearings aren't the worlds greatest gaskets. I know I need the shims/gaskets to set my preload but has anybody ceome up with a better way to seal these areas so there is NO weeping of oil here?

I use KW coppercoat spray sealant.

Frank do use the copper sealant instead of the gaskets/shims or do you spray the gaskets/shims with the copper sealant?
