What is the best way to clean out the PW gas tank? I have it off the truck and it appears to have some rust in the bottom. Any ideas or suggestions?

Below is a link to directions from eastwood as prep for a tank sealer they sell. Not that you need there products but the basic process sounds good.
I have used Virginia to clean a gas tank its cheap but takes about a week depending on how much rust

I used this kit on my Desoto and it worked well, though is not very pleansant to do. Be careful around most of these chemicals, they can harm you and your environment. If the rust is bad I've heard of people putting chains and other material inside to help break up and clean out any heavy corrosion or sediment.Originally posted by oldmopar View PostBelow is a link to directions from eastwood as prep for a tank sealer they sell. Otherwise it's been a good 8 or 10 years ago and I haven't seen any additional rust in the fuel filter, and the coating still seems solid from what I can see through the filler neck.

I use a cement mixer.
I had very good luck using a cement mixer. I had the barrel of the mixer at about a 45 degree angle, secured the gas tank to the "mouth" of the mixer with bungee cords, placed aggregate (rocks about 1/4 to 1 inch in diameter, along with some short lengths of chain I dad laying around and for good measure I added a few gallons of water. Talk about really cleaning the inside. I suspect any abrasives will work. No chemicals to worry about. When finished, seal the inside with a good tank sealer. Joe
