has anyone put in an aftermarket air conditioner? if so, what kind? i think i like the one from vintage air, but was hoping somebody has installed one, and can tell me what the pros and cons of theirs are. thanks, casey.

Contact Vintage Air. They have a website. They can put together a system for any vehicle made. I used their Mark IV, underdash unit in my 69 Powerwagon. It is very compact and does not require any changes in your trucks heater controls or ductwork. It will freeze you out of the cab.
Everything they make or supply in their kits is very high quality. Price for my system about 5 years ago was $875.00.
