  • A question for the Wise.

    Here goes. If I change the wiring harness out of a 79 to one from a 76, Do I need to change the distributor to the one from the 76.Both trucks are stock. The 79 is a 318 with electronic ign. And the 76 is a 360 with points. Both are also auto if that matters. Thanks everyone.

    My 1976 with 360 cid has eletronic ignition as did the 74 that I had.
    I don't know why your 76 has points ( previous owner ? ).
    I would check all the wires for the colors and the plugs and see if they match up.The only other thing is does the donor truck have AC, Criuse,
    ETC.

      The donor truck has a/c no cruise.

        1974 was the first year for electronic / your 76 should have it / of coarse somebody could have put a 1972-73 wiring harness in it / other than options 1972 to 1979 interchange

          I'd use the electronic with whichever engine you use... ie: take the point distributor out...
