I've always used whatever was available without any issues until I tried Bosch Platinums in my Shelby Turbo II car.
The sales guy was raving up and down how great they were so I thought I'd give them a try. I didn't get too many miles on them when my car died in a left turn lane and wouldn't restart. Because it was a five speed without any type of neutral safty on it I was able to use the starter in first gear to move it into the corner parking lot. I came back later with tools and found all of the platinum tips had burned away and had eroded in forming a volcano shape. The gap was too large to fire. I threw in a new set of Champions and was on the road again.
The reason I asked about this is that I had been having problems with my 83 D150 that I bought back in March. It ran terrible and I was able to buy all the stuff needed for a Mopar tune up from one of the charter Dodge Brothers dealerships that Chrysler closed. Bought Champion plugs RN12YC and Mopar wires and distributor cap and rotor. The truck now runs like a champ. I also found an NOS hood release cable for the truck there as well.

I found that the truck had autolite plugs in it, and while they looked ok I changed them out. the cap was ok but the rotor and wires were not in good shape at all. I have always had a preference for Mopar/Champion tune up parts and this just reinforces that. the cap,rotor and wires were generic stuff which I tossed out

With an Ohmmeter put one probe on the end of the plug where the wire would go. Put the other probe on the center electrode where you set the gap (don't touch the probe to the outer tip). The closer the reading is to zero (no resistance/full continuity) the better the plug.
