Gasoline in oil crankcase

Hi All,

When I checked the oil in the crankcase it was thinner than normal and I realized that it was due to gasoline getting in to crankcase. I have now drained the oil and replaced it with new one.

Prior to this, the engine was running rough and my mechanic re-set the float of the 4 bbl Quadra-tech carb. I am waiting to see if the gasoline would get in to the oil crankcase again.

Meanwhile will anyone advise why it might have happened in the first place?

well running rough means it was skipping and dumping gas / thats how it got in there / also a bad fuel pump will pour gas into the oil / it leaks internally

When you remove your fuel cap, does it sound like air russhing in or out?

It is now the end of winter here and temperatures have ben in the 40s at nite and 80s during the day. So, it is not yet hot.

No, when I open the fuel tanlk cap, it does not sound like air rushing in or out. May be it is because I have an ill-fitting fuel cap.

I would keep an eye on it and replace your fuel pump.
