  • 1978 440 production numbers

Hi guys im new to the board and have a question. I have owned a 1978 factory 440 4x4 short box for 2 years, original paint (but faded) rust free California truck .I have been told they made less than 50 shortbox 440's in 78 and wondered if there is any good records kept from those years?
    Thanks in advance

total 1978 440 production is in the 100 thousands between BIG trucks- trucks and cars and RV,s

l,ve personally have seen 8 or 10 trucks like yours / the main truck that recieved it was the WARLOCK / it was a regular cab short bed stepside 4x4 / they were BLACK with GOLD pin stripes

production numbers on trucks were not kept like they were on cars / but l,d say they made at least a couple thousand of them / mainly because they were required to make a minimum production run for each model

the good news is theres probly only 50 left in the country so you do have a RARE truck

      78 440 Shorty

I have a 78 Power Wagon 4x4 shorty with a 440 also, some where I came across some production numbers also that there was only about 50 440 4x4 short beds built. My truck has 104K original miles rust free with original faded paint, it is not a Macho just a standard Power Wagon with factory bucket seat!

Too bad there are not accurate production #'s for these 440 trucks.

        We have a '76 4 x 4 Warlock with factory 440 automatic in rare Sunburst orange.(needs resto)

Also have a '75 W300 dually with a factory 440 4 speed that was a mini pumper fire truck. Seems the 4 speeds are really rare.

Also have a rough '76 D250 440 auto Adventurer club cab but those are pretty common.
