Coverting 2wd to 4x4

Anyone tried putting 4x4 under a 2wd.I'm looking at an 82 crewcab longbed.Dodge never offered a longbed in 4x4 until recently.Big headache or worth the effort?

It'd be worth it if you plan on keeping it & you have a nearly complete 4x4 donor truck for the conversion. Years ago I bought a 85 longbed crew 2wd with the same intentions, but the fundage never materialized.

l have a 1981 and a 1985 4x4 crew cab and l,ve seen plenty of pre-80,s 4x4 crews

Crewcab Longbed 4x4

I've too have seen many Dodge Crewcab 4x4s.All short beds.I have a 68 and had an 85.Both short beds.I am looking for a pre 94 Crewcab 4x4 long bed.I've never seen one except those converted.Maybe I missed something?
