This doesn't exactly answer your question but my '89 Shelby Daytona had a sensor on the transmission. The connector for the wires had contact issues at one time causing the speedo to do crazy things.
no it does not / its a speed sensor on the tail shaft housing of the t-case / in the FSM there is not much for diognostics because its such a simple system / other than POWERS and GROUNDS its either gonna be the speed sensor - wiring - speedo head / its that cut and dry
