first i should list what i did....
had a 74 w200 with a bad cab/box
had a 76 d100 with good cab/box
"i dropped the hammer" and did the body swap this weekend (put the 76 body on the 74 frame)
heres what i ran into..........
74 had fuel tank behind seat so i took the tank off the 76 frame to put on 74 frame but since the 74 is 4x4 the tank hits the transfer case cross member....now what?? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT(i know it sounds confusing)
74 had removable center hump but the 76 doesnt so now i have to cut a hole for the 4x4 shifter
had to switch steering shafts(76 was shorter) but that was a easy swap
had to make most of the engine wiring longer (76 was small block /74 was big block)
i did notice some diffrent "ears" on the frame of the 76 that the box bolted to but the box had a dual bolt pattern so it worked anyways...
one last questions beside the fuel tank deal is....what should the correct motor mounts be for a big block in a 74 W200? who ever had the truck before me had a cluster and i would like to do it right...i think i might have the reason why they did what they did....i think the motor is from a car and has the wrong oil pan so the front axle is kinda close to it so they spaced up the motor mount area....
thanks
Josh
