    New/Old problem
    My gas Gauge on my 1976 w200 hasent worked.
    My qoestiion is can I just hook up another gauge and see if it works?
    as long as the gauge is neg ground type??

    sure you can / but l,d test the system from the sender by grounding the sender wires together and see if the wiring and the gauge work

      Not all gauges operate within the same Ohm range. A GM gauge will not work with a Dodge sending unit. The gauge & sending unit must be matched or the reading will be inaccurate, if it reads at all. Mopar gauges/sensing units of that era had a range of 73 Ohms (empty) to 8-12 Ohms (full).

      Do the test Dodgeboys recommended first. If your temp gauge is good then your fuel gauge problem isn't as likely to be in the instrument panel area, but at the tank or the corresponding wiring.
