  • Yellowish/orange spark plugs?

Did a little tune up on the M880 the other day getting ready for the cold and snow.

Still hard to start but runs good once warmed up. Anyway the old plugs (they were correct RJ14 or something like that) were not fouled or burned but were a real pretty yellow orange, pehaps an ocher color (SP?).

What does that indicate? the truck does a lot of idleing and low speed stuff on the farm. I drive it out on the road evey now and then for fuel, etc. Probably half on road half off.

Any ideas? I've never seen this color before. Is it the ethanol blending?

Yes, it could be a gasoline additive from your area. I don't think it's the ethanol. So long as the electrodes aren't eroded, no dry soot or wet oily deposits I'd say you're o.k.

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking since everything else looked OK, just a weird color.
