  • Ignition failure

I replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, and cap on Bud this afternoon. Ran good. Got about 100 feet from the shop and it died. An occasional spark from the coil. + terminal on coil reading 6V, - terminal reading1V. Swapped out control box, no change. I know the - terminal should have about battery voltage. Any thoughts? Not getting voltage from the ign switch?

meter the ballast resistor (white porcelain piece) it could be limiting voltage to the coil.

Ended up being the coil. The secondary side was open. I'm going to have go back and check voltage at the - terminal to see where it is now. Ballast resistor reads good both sides.

Replace the fuseable links at the starter relay on the l/s firewall. Solved 99.9% of my ignition woes.
