74 crew cab engine change?

I have 360 matched to a mp420 trans. want to put in 444. Will the 444 match up to the 420 trans?

I think you probably have a NP 435 transmission.

Thanks for the reply. there was also a type O. I want to put a 440 in. Will it match to the np435. or will I have to modify.

Yes, but you can't use the 360 bellhousing or flywheel.

Yes it is probably a 435 trans. I have one that came off of a 440 from a 1 ton 73 truck. Unfortunatly for you I have already sold the bellhousing, cast iron, nice heavy piece with mounts on it. Still have the tranny though if you need one with granny gear.
