Well I finally got to work on my 77 W-200 (M886) with the problem of needing too much choke at idle to keep it running. I did not find any vacuum leaks so I decided to rebuild the carb. It had a very unhealthy amount of crud inside. All the gaskets and the accelerator pump were in good shape. A fresh rebuild of the carb and the 318 is back to purring like a 50,000 mile 318 should.
