  • Hood Opening problem

I just bought a '75 Power Wagon to play aroung with. I went to work on it last night and the hood release pull in the cab wouldn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to open the hood without using this? Thanks.

    Arthur Fonzarelli fist bang.

I have a similar problem with my 77 M880. Pull the hood release inside cab, then get out and bang the hood with a hammer fist. Might need two or three shots, hood should lift up enough for you to reach the secondary hood release.

That's because your pulling the e brake release cable. the hood release is behind the grill.

Really, because it has hood clearly printed on the pull.

            As 74w300uteline said:

Pull the release and then push down on the front edge of the hood near the center of the truck. Sometimes you will need a second person to pull the handle while you simultaneously push down on the hood. The fix is to adjust the hood latch after getting the hood open. The latch tends to slide down over time. I suppose that is from the hood being slammed down on it.

This is some new info for me... I didn't think that there was an internal hood release in 75.

Never heard of a stock M880 with a hood release...
                High end '75s may have?

Is there a handle to release the E-break as well? Maybe someone stuck a different handle on the E-break release that says "Hood" just a thought. *shrugs*

                      I'm wrong

none of my 70's trucks have internal releases. The 89 Ramcharger has an internal release.

I just bought the truck, so I went back and looked at the title. It states it is a 1975 model. It is the adventurer line. It has both a hood release and an ebrake release.

My 77' has an internal hood release, and of course a parking brake release. It's also an Adventure Series. I'm guessing the chrome trim is part of the package, maybe the flannel seats. I'd be hard pressed to identify anything else I'd call an optional accessory. Maybe the cargo light? Lighted ash tray?

What's the little red button that says, "Do Not Push" for?
